LAB AUDIT UNITS

The equipment pictured above is used to verify leak location on parts that have failed a helium mass spectrometer leak test. The parts are manually loaded and unloaded. The parts are first pressurized with air to reduce helium consumption. If a leak is not found with air, helium is then applied. The operator applies a leak detection solution and visually inspects the torque converter for a leak and manually marks the leak location on the part. The parts are then sent to a repair station where the leaking parts are salvaged. Trends in the leak location are noted and process changes are made to reduce the number of leaking parts.

This machine is a manually loaded and unloaded significant characteristic test stand. This machine has two (2) stations; one (1) station will perform axial force tests, and the other station performs torque tests.

The axial force test station performs pull out forces for tubes and push out forces for shafts, pins, nuts, and throttle balls from levers. The torque test station will perform break away torque tests for tubes and non-destructive torque tests on lever-shaft assemblies.
